creepin in plays with the gray areas that exist between genres, contrasting with the clarity of the digital synths and over saturated analog drums. next up ineffekt is acid electro cut with thrashing percussion held together with 808 drums. red alert is the only track with a vocal. classic roland drums, deep sub and hardware synths mixed with the hypnotic vocal overlays make this one for the freaks. sky pager is slow cooked mid 90 s jacking business, the kind i m known for. 808 trash pile is an acid hammer of a cut with the drum and synth doing a maniacal game of call and response.

lago santo was made for the road. inspired by a drive through the mountains and valleys of northern italy in the summer of 2016, mculo s new ep is a soundtrack for highways, torn maps, sunrises, glacial lakes, and the wind. opening with in retrospect, a motorik, driving number that climaxes with a synthesized melodic hook, the b-side softens into the shimmering, windows-down piano riffs of bra hugh. the title track wraps things up with dizzying psychedelic tones and a smattering of percussion. early dj support from san soda, dark sky, gratts and kong, chaos in the cbd, youandewan

alexis tyrel’s man in the sky introduces itself as a no-nonsense kick and riff driven track. although simple in nature, it is a bold and distinct. the track zeros in on the very memorable riff and the different adaptations of it that play throughout. changes in key, timbre and depth give this piece an eerie vibe in places and a funky vibe in others.

jonas friedlich, better known through mistress recordings and carl gari, releases his first solo 12- on molten moods. the versatile 4 track ep starts with the rather straight -bo s breakfast- that begins with a polyrhythmic 303 bass line leading into a catchy garage-ish chorus, kicking in out of a clear sky but fittingly. -bus driver- is a wicked trip, the combination of the long acid build up and a nicely chopped vocal bit is irresistible. a proven, tested (and molten moods certified) club banger, regardless of its rather untypical breakbeat. track number 3 called -praise your name- aces groove through perfectly cut vocal samples and a fancy reference to 90s hip hop and drum n bass aesthetics. the next and last piece on the record is the eponymous -deskjet-, which is inspired by friedlichs conceptual sound art installations using printers. here rather restrained synthie lines are underpinned by a powerful kick and psychedelic tape delay noises. the 12- vinyl is handstamped on both sides. mastered and cut by scape mastering. artwork by paul bernhard.
